In Finistère, festive gatherings banned from Tuesday evening

“Faced with the risks of disturbances to public order and faced with the health risks represented by this type of organized grouping without prior declaration”, the prefect of Finistère announced, this Monday, May 6, 2024, that he is issuing an order “aimed at prohibiting throughout the department any festive gathering of a musical nature not declared during this long weekend. The ban is valid from Tuesday May 7, at 6 p.m., to Monday May 13, at 12 p.m. It also concerns “the circulation of any vehicle transporting sound equipment (“sound system”) to an unauthorized festive gathering of a musical nature, on all road networks”.

The prefect recalls that “the organization of a gathering of this type is punishable by the sanctions provided for by article R. 211-27 of the internal security code and may give rise to the seizure of the material with a view to its confiscation by the tribunal “. And added: “Such gatherings create risks for personal safety and require the use of very substantial public resources to deal with them.” The prefect of Finistère thus calls for “responsibility and respect for these provisions”. And specifies that “the police and gendarmerie forces will be mobilized to ensure the maintenance of public order and compliance with the measures”.
