JR returns to Paris for a new artistic performance

He has already covered the Louvre pyramid, the Trocadéro and the Garnier opera house with his monumental collages… The very famous Parisian artist JR is back in his hometown for a new installation on the square in front of the Hôtel de Ville, this Saturday October 5.

This new “exceptional artistic and photographic performance” called “Inside Out” is organized as part of the celebration of the centenary of Children’s Rights. To implement it, JR will need the participation of children and young people aged under 21.

Celebration of a founding text

For the occasion, a Photobooth truck will be installed from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. The participants will then be photographed in turn before having their portrait printed to create a giant fresco on the ground. A snapshot of the ephemeral work will then be taken. “Taking photos of children will be subject to the issuance of parental authorization,” specifies the town hall in a press release.

This work is intended to be a tribute to the Geneva Declaration on the Rights of the Child, adopted on September 26, 1924 by the League of Nations. “This founding text affirms for the first time that children have rights and changes the way humanity views them. In 100 years, immense progress has been made for the respect and protection of children but much remains to be done,” explains the municipality.

At the same time, an exhibition on children’s rights will also be installed from October 5 to 16 along the fountains in front of the Town Hall. This exhibition is produced by the Children’s Rights Mission of the City of Paris “which trains Parisian children in their rights and informs them about respecting them, particularly in the fight against violence against children”, adds the City.
