Crusaders are the most adopted

Some other breeds are gaining adoption popularity this year, such as the Old English Bulldog, the Brussels Griffon and the Fox Terrier. Conversely, Beagles and Bull Terriers are losing popularity as they fall out of the Top 10.

The European shorthair cat is a favorite again

As for felines, Parisians who prefer a more independent companion have favored the European shorthair cat. Its advantage: its flexibility. The latter is followed by the Maine Coon and the Burmese cat.

Since last year; Three other breeds have seen their popularity explode in terms of adoption: the Exotic Shorthair, the Munchkin and the Aegean cat.

More generally, when making their adoption choice, the French are more interested in the behavior and personality of cat and dog breeds. 56% of the population make this their adoption criterion, with an affectionate, friendly and curious animal in mind. 54% of French people make their choice because of the appearance of the animal.
