CAQ, Liberals and PQ unanimously supported a Quebec Solidarity motion reaffirming the support of the National Assembly for the Quebec City tramway.

With one voice, they recalled “their firm support for the realization of the tramway component of phase 1 of the CITÉ plan presented by the Caisse de dépôt et placement du Québec”.

This first line, the “backbone” of the CDPQ’s overall project, must extend from Le Gendre to Charlesbourg, via Sainte-Foy, Vieux-Québec, Saint-Roch and Limoilou.

The National Assembly also reminded all federal parties that they expect funding for the public transit project to be maintained, regardless of the outcome of the next election.

The leader of the Conservative Party of Canada, far ahead in the polls, promised not to “put a penny” into the Quebec project.

This is not the first time that Quebec elected officials have reaffirmed their support for the Quebec tramway project.

In September 2023, all elected officials and CAQ ministers supported a solidarity motion on the subject, a few weeks before slowing down Mayor Bruno Marchand’s project to entrust it to the Caisse.
