There were twenty-one artisans to participate in the competition for the best cake which took place at the Chamber of Trades and Crafts of Gard… This Thursday, October 3, it was time for the prize giving, the federation of bakers awarded a check for fifty euros to the first three selected.
While the Belle Gardoise sector is in demand, the best cake keeps you waiting. Alexandre Boudry, the big winner of the competition, actually didn’t really win. “There’s a catch this year…” confirmed at the awards ceremony, the president of the Gard Federation of artisan bakers. Alexandre is not “what” pastry chef and cannot therefore be selected among the master bakers to access the regionals… A boon for the second finisher, Nicolas Bouzanquet, who will be qualified for the next competition.
In the eyes of the judges, Alexander “remains the big winner and favorite of the jury” and will have the honor of providing the cake to the prefecture…

The secret to the best pancake? The chef will not reveal the recipe, but a few clues speak volumes: a “generous dose of butter”, “controlled cooking” and the chef’s special touch: vanilla… Time for tasting!
