Since Tuesday, October 1, the emergency services have been using a new telephone number to contact people who have called them. So, if you now receive 0800 112 112 displayed on your device, you absolutely must respond. The gendarmes assure that it is not “a malicious or commercial call, but that of an emergency service”.

This Tuesday 1is October, the Gard gendarmes warn the population about a new emergency telephone number, essential to know. Indeed, following a technical update of the telephone switchboards, a change has occurred in the way in which the emergency services contact citizens. From now on, when they try to contact you after an initial call, “their numbers will be identified on your phone as 0800 112 112”.

A new call number for emergency services

This number should be monitored closely, as it is an official line. “This is not a malicious or commercial call, but that of an emergency service,” insist the authorities. The Gard gendarmes therefore call for vigilance: this number, which centralizes call returns from the emergency services, must be taken very seriously. Responding to this call is crucial, as ignoring this contact could delay life-saving intervention or jeopardize an emergency situation.

On the other hand, traditional emergency numbers remain active and must be used in case of immediate need: “ 17 (gendarmerie/police), 15 (SAMU), 18 (firefighters) and 112 », remind the security forces. The new number, 0800 112 112, will therefore only be used to contact citizens after an initial contact. “You will be able to respond with complete confidence and at no cost to you,” specify the authorities.
