Ourossogui, May 4 (APS) – The prefect of the department of Matam, Souleymane Ndiaye launched, on Saturday, the project to rehabilitate the municipal stadium of Ourossogui (north) worth 53 million CFA francs, financed by the Senegalese Ministry of Territorial Communities, Development and Territorial Planning and that of Foreign Affairs of France, the APS learned from its initiators.
The project is the result of a partnership between the Senegalese commune of Ourossogui and the French commune of Creil, according to representatives of the French side.
”This project to improve sports practice in the town of Ourossogui consists of rehabilitating the municipal stadium for an amount of 82,000 euros, or 53 million CFA francs. It is financed thanks to a joint system between the Ministry of Territorial Communities of Senegal and that of Foreign Affairs of France,” said Rama Diarra, representative of the town hall of Creil.
Speaking at the end of the project launching ceremony, in the presence of deputy mayors of Ourossogui, she recalled that the two cities have maintained relations dating back several years.
Rama Diarra, also a municipal councilor of Creil, explained the choice of Ourossogui by a desire “to work for the youth” of this municipality.
”During our various visits and our discussions with the mayor and the populations, they told us of their wish to see this stadium rehabilitated. We approved the project with the support of Union Agir pour le développement (UAD) and Maison des Yvelines in France, she added.
”This project will contribute to improving the level of competitiveness of athletes in the municipality of Ourossogui. It is also part of the realization of the concerns of the populations,” declared the administrative authority.
The project will start with a study of the architectural plan of the stadium before the laying of the first stone, the date of which has not been specified.
