They were – obviously – not all there but the elected officials of Tours Métropole and more broadly of Indre-et-Loire present at the inauguration of the Tours fair on Saturday May 4, 2024 were keen to recall their obligation to “play collectively”.
This is particularly what Nathalie Savaton, 5, ardently defendede vice-president of Tours Métropole. The mayor of Savonnières, delegate for tourism development, outreach and the city of gastronomy, intervened during the speech after excusing the absence of President Frédéric Augis. She notably launched: “We must play collectively to achieve our common goals. And to add: Playing as a team means respecting your teammates. »
“The first metropolitan fair”
The elected official from Tours Métropole especially welcomed the holding of this “first metropolitan fair”, recalling that the community was now the owner of the exhibition center. And that it is a partner of the event supported by Tours Événements.
“There are still a lot of projects to be carried out but we have already redone the surface in front of the halls, to encourage movement”, underlined Nathalie Savaton before passing the microphone to Emmanuel Denis, mayor of Tours.
“In this complicated period where some want to drag us into a more violent society, the values of Sport are essential. Sport is a vector of inclusion and integration,” highlighted the mayor of Tours, referring to the exhibitions and activities offered in response to the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.
Deputy mayor, Iman Manzari also spoke as president of Tours Événements. He emphasized: “Tours is the third fair in France. »
Rewards for the elected officials present
These three elected officials were all distinguished by the president of the departmental Olympic and sports committee of Indre-et-Loire (CDOS 37). Alain Jahan gave each of them a t-shirt specially created for the occasion. The president of CDOS 37 also presented a pin and a medal as “first prize” to Géraud Lanièce, director of Tours Événement.
Alain Jahan was delighted with the highlighting of sport and the values of Olympism at the fair, recalling in passing his bitterness at not seeing the flame cross Indre-et-Loire. And tackle: “I don’t thank Jean-Gérard Paumier”.
While he was president, the Department had in fact refused to pay to host the flame.

This is the number of sports committees participating in the fair. Some 200 volunteers are mobilized and 450 schoolchildren will be welcomed Monday May 6 and Tuesday May 7.
“We have just transformed the test”
This did not hide Alain Jahan’s pleasure at seeing all the sporting activities presented in Hall A. “I am very happy, we have just transformed the trial”he rejoiced.
The test, perhaps: Florian Grill, the president of the Rugby Federation was even present in Tours this Saturday, May 4, 2024 to see it…
Basketball hoops a little less! Several of the elected officials tried it but not all of them scored. In terms of team play, we’ll have to practice a little more.
