Banjul, May 4 (APS) – President Bassirou Diomaye Faye declared, Saturday, in Banjul, that was “particularly concerned by the catastrophic situation in ”, denouncing “the indifferent view of the international community”, “the “inertia of the Security Council” and “disregard for the most basic humanitarian rules”.

“Senegal is particularly concerned by the catastrophic situation in Gaza, under the indifferent gaze of the international community, in the face of the inertia of the Security Council and the disregard for the most basic humanitarian rules,” lduring the closed-door meeting of heads of state and government of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) meeting in Banjul.

Senegalese diplomacy has always been visible to the Palestinians. The country chairs the Committee for the Exercise of the Inalienable Rights of the Palestinian People created in November 1975 by the Nations.

“E“As the newly elected president of Senegal”, a founding member of the OIC, Mr. Faye assured his peers of the “continued anchoring” of his country within the organization, “in a spirit of Islamic solidarity and fraternity.”

According to the elements of his intervention of which the APS was aware, he renewed ”Senegal’s unwavering support for the legitimate demands of our Palestinian brothers and sisters, for a viable and sovereign State, with East Jerusalem as its capital, in accordance with the resolutions United Nations”.

Bassirou Diomaye Faye called for ”a more substantial mobilization of the Islamic Ummah for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza and the two-state solution, the only guarantee of lasting peace in the region”.

Furthermore, the Senegalese President considered that it was “important that the OIC and the Member States strengthen, moreover, the dissemination of the authentic values ​​of Islam, a religion which advocates moderation, knowledge, to do and know how to be”.

The 15the Summit of the Organization of the Islamic Conference (OIC) is being held at the Dawda Kairaba Diawara International Conference Center on the theme: “Strengthening unity and solidarity through dialogue for sustainable development”.

Many voices were raised at the opening of the meeting to condemn Israeli abuses in the Gaza Strip and recall the right of the Palestinians to a sovereign state.
