With its 18,480 lakes and 300 rivers, the Zec Network will meet the expectations of fishing enthusiasts. To fish in these territories, all you have to do is obtain your provincial fishing license, register, pay your fishing fee at the reception station of the chosen ZEC and, upon exit, declare and weigh your catches. In total, around fifteen species can be fished on the zecs, including speckled trout, gray trout or lake trout, walleye, northern pike and even salmon on some by following the required conditions.

There are three ways to fish in these territories. Firstly, there is wade fishing. More than 400 sites are listed to date. Several ZECs have developed certain promising sites for this type of fishing. Nothing about you prevents you from discovering others.

The second possibility available to you is fishing from a boat. You have two ways to do this. You can bring your own boat or you can rent it on site, in certain ZECs. Several zecs have also set up launching ramps in order to be able to easily access bodies of water.

Third, fly fishing takes the spotlight. More than 180 lakes are reserved specifically for fly fishing. Very often, these lakes are less fished, which increases your chances of making great catches.

Before organizing your fishing trip, take the time to find out about the ZEC you have chosen. As good managers, the leaders of the ZECs carry out careful management of the exploitation of water bodies. Some more popular lakes may close early in the season. You should also inform yourself about the road conditions for the destination of your choice.

TOOLS

To help you in your adventures, Réseau Zec has created different tools, each one as interesting as the next.

Thanks to Bath-water maps, you can use your phone to locate yourself, inspect the bathymetry and spot the best fishing spots very quickly. You have over 250 free maps available. You can download them with the Avenza Maps app.

To prepare yourself and visit your future hunting spots during the fishing season, you can use the new iFaune cards, sold at a very reasonable price. They will allow you to learn about game habitats, whether you want to learn more about black bear, moose, white-tailed deer or small game.

Always to help you live a very special experience, with your family this time, you should know that Réseau Zec has ensured that fishing and small game hunting are free for children aged 17 and under, accompanied by a adult.

More and more ZECs are offering accommodation to allow you to prolong your pleasure of living in nature, after a day of activities. Depending on the zecs, you will find chalets, shelters, ready to camp and even yurts. There is no doubt that you will be delighted by the reduced and very affordable rates for these accommodations.

Several ZECs now offer accommodation in different forms, like this one on the territory of the ZEC Batiscan Neilson.
