GMS debunks the accusations of its detractors in the ECOWAS parliament

Attacked this Sunday, September 29 during a public meeting in Lomé, following an invitation from members of the Togolese opposition, Guy Marius Sagna is accused of usurpation of the position of deputy in Senegal, while the Senegalese parliament has been dissolved since September 12. Despite the dissolution of the National Assembly of Senegal, the former deputy Guy Marius Sagna continues to have his title of Deputy of the ECOWAS parliament. A situation denounced by some of its detractors, members of the ECOWAS parliament.

As an element of response to this accusation, GMS emphasizes that “There is an ECOWAS text called Additional Act relating to the strengthening of the prerogatives of the ECOWAS Parliament. On page 2 of this additional act, it is mentioned: “the transition from an ECOWAS of States to an ECOWAS of peoples. It was the ECOWAS heads of state who mentioned this. In article 2 of this act”, he said during his face to face with the Senegalese press. Thus, continues GUY, “it is said: “The members of the ECOWAS parliament are each representative of all populations of the Community”. In other words, as a member of the ECOWAS GMS parliament, when I arrive at the ECOWAS Parliament, I do not represent Senegal. I represent the people of all ECOWAS Member States. So, those who say that “there are enough problems in Senegal to talk about the problems of other ECOWAS countries, are making a mistake”, justified the member of the ECOWAS Parliament, Guy Marius Sagna.
