Formed this summer after Québec digital announced that it wanted to close its doors, Digital Capital took advantage of its official launch on Tuesday to “make a break” with the organization.

We are a new entity, so we are starting from scratchsays Carole-Ann Labrie, member of the trio who has administered Digital Capital since its creation in July. We even start in the negative, due to the fact that we had to distance ourselves from the two other events.

These two other events are numeriQC Week and the Web in Quebec (WAQ), carried until very recently by Québec digital. The organization is still the subject of an administrative investigation by the Ministry of Employment and Social Solidarity (MESS) due toirregularities […] in accountability.

On July 25, Québec digital filed a notice of intention to make a proposal under the Bankruptcy and Insolvency Act. The following week, the Lemieux Nolet firm was appointed trustee to help the organization in its restructuring efforts.

Given these developments, the brands that are Semaine numériQC, the Web à Québec and their variants had to return under the ownership of Québec régional, despite the initial wish of Capitale digital to ensure the sustainability of the events there. are associated.

We said to ourselves that yes, if we had the opportunity to save the brands and what has been worked on in recent years, we were going to do it, but ultimately, we are not Quebec digitalinsists Carole-Ann Labrie in an interview with Radio-Canada.

We don’t have the brands, so we don’t want to repeat the same eventsshe insists. We want to do them better.

Without being a copy and paste of numeriQC Week, the first Digital Meeting will be held at the Port of Quebec Cruise Terminal from April 8 to 10, 2025. The event will act as a gathering point for the digital business community.

Artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, technological entrepreneurship, e-commerce… It will be a place where people will be able to meet, create collaborations, train to know the latest trends in each industry, and better support their teams.she said.

Mme Labrie specifies that the event is aimed more at managers and people who have a senior profile in their profession.

On May 27, 28 and 29, 2025, still at the Cruise Terminal, Interface Québec will be held, which will in some way take the place of the WAQ.

Less focused on the web, Interface Québec aims to celebrate professions that unite professionals and technologies [et à] address more to people who do.

Par people who doMme Labrie includes both beginners and intermediates as well as people who are experts and who want to give back to the community and participate in this knowledge sharing.

To organize the two events, Digital Capital will hold with volunteers co-creation workshopsi.e. three this fall to think about programming and content, and others after the holidays to think about containing.

We expect to deliver events of superior or equal quality, at least to what participants have seen in recent years. We agree, the community deserves events that are not just in Montreal!
