Yvelines: he rushes at three police officers in the middle of a residential area, another refusal to comply in Chesnay

The scene comes two weeks after the refusal to comply with a rare violence of which a municipal police officer from Chesnay-Rocquencourt () was the victim, in the Glatigny district. This Monday evening, according to information revealed by 78actu, three agents from the same town, neighboring , were once again confronted with extremely dangerous driving behavior.

Around 10:30 p.m., residents of rue des Érables, in the upscale residential area of Parly 2, called the police. Before their eyes, a motorist visibly beside himself has been driving around the neighborhood for a few minutes, behind the wheel of a Citroën DS3. It is his disturbing behavior that prompts witnesses to call the police. When the patrol arrived on scene, the man was on foot and screaming in the street.

“This gentleman who has never been talked about, completely unknown to the services, seemed exasperated,” we commented this Tuesday at the Chesnay town hall. After wandering in the north of the city, he found himself on rue des Érables, where his family lives.

When the three municipal police officers ordered him to calm down, the man got back into his car. And accelerate. The three agents, fortunately, have time to throw themselves to the side. But the motorist engages in reverse “at very high speed” and revs the engine, forcing one of the agents to use his defense ball launcher. The police managed to control the motorist on the ground, then handed him over to the national police who arrived as reinforcements.

A very delicate intra-family context

Aged 50, a senior executive, he was taken into police custody. In his car, the police discovered a large knife, with a 30 cm blade. According to the first elements of the investigation, the man, in the process of divorce and under antidepressant treatment, aimed to go to his wife’s partner, residing in Hauts-de-Seine. “He had planned to attack the new companion, then himself,” reports a source at the Chesnay town hall.

“Contrary to what happened in mid-September with the driver who was transporting drugs and deliberately targeted the police to save his merchandise, this time we are rather in a very delicate intra-family context which caused this man to lose all its bearings in the face of reality, say those around the mayor. This obviously does not take away from the dangerousness, but the police were not the primary recipients of his behavior.”

The “exemplary” act and “control” of agents

During the night from Monday to Tuesday, the on-call elected official and a member of the mayor’s office met the three agents, whose “exemplary act of great technical skill” the municipality salutes. A pioneer in the field, the town of Chesnay-Rocquencourt has relied for several years on a continuing training system with scenarios “which allow a certain level of alert to be maintained at all times”.

“The officers, who were almost mowed down on the side of the road, did not draw their handguns. This reveals their level of mastery,” comments the same source at town hall. At the end of the week, Richard Delepierre, the mayor (MoDem) of Chesnay, will travel to the neighborhood to meet residents of rue des Érables and rue de l’Étang who witnessed the scene.
