Perpignan: Delicate intervention by firefighters on a violent vehicle fire which caused a dangerous gas leak

A vehicle fire could have gone very badly for the emergency services this Thursday evening.

It was 7:30 p.m. this Thursday evening when firefighters from the Perpignan North and Perpignan West barracks were called to intervene on rue Stendhal, in the Saint-Assiscle district.

A vehicle fire had just broken out in this district of western Perpignan. For reasons still unknown, a motorcycle caught fire. The fire spread to three cars parked nearby but also to a garage.

The flames then caused a gas leak from a box located on the facade of the building. A very dangerous situation for the Pyrénées-Orientales firefighters who had to maneuver delicately to avoid any explosion.

Finally, the gas was cut off at the Source by the supplier and the firefighters were able to limit the spread of this fire which did not cause any casualties despite the power of the flames.
