Several thousand people gathered in Lyon this Wednesday, May 1 to demonstrate between Garibaldi and Place Bellecour. Tensions broke out on the sidelines of the procession and 22 people were arrested, including two minors.

The Lyon public prosecutor’s office indicates this Thursday, May 2, that ten adults will be referred this Friday, May 3.

Ten people referred

In detail, eight will be referred for immediate appearance. Four are being prosecuted for acts of violence against a person holding public authority and participation in a group with a view to committing an offense, four others are being prosecuted for participating in a group with a view to committing an offense.

The two other people will be referred “according to the appearance procedure on prior admission of guilt, one on the charge of damage to property intended for the public utility, and the other on the charge of rebellion”, specifies the prosecution.

One of the minors arrested was summoned before the prosecutor’s delegate.

Concerning the 12 other people arrested this Wednesday, May 1, police custody resulted in the procedure being closed without further action.
