In Loire-Atlantique, a family assistant indicted for rape of a 4-year-old girl

This is the first major step in an extraordinary investigation carried out by investigators from the Minors Office (OFMIN). After several weeks of intense investigations, according to information from BFMTVa 32-year-old man, family assistant in charge of a 4-year-old child receiving treatment at his home, was indicted on Wednesday September 25, 2024 for acts of “rape with acts of torture and barbarity on a 15-year-old minor by person with authority” and “sexual assault” by an investigating judge from Nantes (Loire-Atlantique). “Unbearable” videos published on Telegram

It all starts on September 13, 2024. OFMIN investigators are alerted by their counterparts in a border country after broadcasting videos on the Telegram channel on which a very young child of French nationality is rape victim.

Trying to identify the young victim as quickly as possible, the investigators focus on a detail of these videos described as “unbearable” : a medical bed. After multiple requisitions and groupings launched in all medical services in France, also with the help of National Education, the child was identified thanks to this medical bed. It concerns a 4-year-old girl, and her rapist appears to be her 32-year-old family assistant.

At the beginning of 2023, this individual obtained child welfare approval (ASE) from the Loire-Atlantique department in order to become a host family. OFMIN investigators initially tried to arrest him at his home in Nantes, but he had already left France, while the 4-year-old girl, in his care, was hospitalized a few days earlier. .

Man described as ‘sexual predator’

Quickly located in Tunisia, he ended up returning to France before being arrested when getting off the plane Monday September 23, 2024. Placed in police custody in the premises of the interdepartmental judicial police service (SIPJ) of Nantes, he admits to having abused the little girl and broadcast videos of his actions to pedophile networks in France and abroad.

According to BFMTVthis man with a clean criminal record is described as a “sexual predator” with a particularly worrying profile. Very close to the local community, he was employed in the past as a caregiver, and had requested from the ASE to only have children aged 0 to 6 placed in his home. His computer equipment was seized and its exploitation is underway by OFMIN investigators.

Investigations continue to continue in order to identify potential other victims. The investigation also led to the arrest of several other suspects abroad. Contacted by BFMTV, the Nantes public prosecutor’s office did not respond to requests.
