Matthew Patron spent his entire life in Bordeaux. He even says that he has known everything but at 28 years old, fortunately, life still has a few surprises in store and on the banks of the Garonne, the young man is currently discovering a new facet of his existence: that of an entrepreneur. .

Mathieu Patron has just created the ready-to-wear brand Bobordelais. For the beginning, it launched a crowdfunding campaign and offers t-shirts available for pre-order since 1er April 2024. Then, it intends to rely on its website and a few points of sale.

T-shirts made in Bordeaux

What’s special about these t-shirts? They are locally madein an integration company in Eysines, and are bearing the effigy of the iconic monuments of the Gironde capital.

“I’ve been thinking about this project for a while,” he explains to Bordeaux news. I love my city, I’m quite chauvinistic. I wanted to pay homage to him and I came up with this brand name, which is both a wink and a cliché. And I had to follow through on the process so I wanted the t-shirts to be made here and not in Asia. »

Moreover, in his communication plan, this marketing manager for a storage space and storage space rental company emphasizes the local and ethical aspect of its brand : “Bobordelais wants to move from an upside-down world to a right-side-up fashion. »

He wants to make Bobordelais a reference brand

By embarking on this adventure, Mathieu Patron was inspired in particular by Zèta, a sneaker brand launched in 2020 by Laure Babin. In just a few years, the young Bordeaux brand has managed to win over a large clientele and establish itself on the market by positioning itself as an eco-responsible brand. She even opened her first store in 2023.

The young Bordeaux resident has the same ambitions for his brand, to which he intends to devote 100% of his time since he plans to leave his current job within a few weeks.

I want to be able to carry out my project from A to Z and become a reference brand like Mr Tee-Shirt or Asphalte, other Bordeaux brands.

Matthew Patron

On his website, he already has more than 70 pre-orders at 35 euros each. A good start even if he knows that the rest of the road risks being long and strewn with pitfalls. “I have patience and perseverance. I really think it can work. It affects both the premiseswho are chauvinistic, but It may also appeal to tourists. »

Local gastronomy as the next step?

On this subject, Mathieu Patron has already contacted the team of the City of wine. Already to obtain the image rights of the monument which appears on one of its models – in the same way as the stone bridgeTHE Chaban bridgeTHE Grand Theaterthere Place de la Bourse or the Column of the Girondins – but also to begin a partnership with the Bordeaux museum shop, which attracts nearly 400,000 visitors per year.

“For the moment, I am starting with heritage emblems but I am already thinking of other themes for the future, such as local gastronomy for example,” reveals the founder of Bobordelais. Also, he would like not to confine himself only to t-shirts and to market soon sweatshirts or even bobs. For a Bordeaux from every angle.
