Pays du Pont du : the intercommunality wants to move

The decision was taken at the last community council on June 17. The Community of Communes Pont du intends to move and acquire a new plot adjoining its current headquarters in Remoulins. A wish confirmed during its last community session on September 23 in Aramon.

The main motivation for moving is the health emergency of dilapidated premises of buildings mentioned for several months, among other problems of humidity and insulation, even unsanitary conditions. It is also an opportunity for the Community of Communes to acquire land reserves. The next step therefore involved authorization from the community council for a request to submit a building permit.

Three abstentions

A simple protocolary and obligatory act, but which raised some questions among elected officials and in particular the Remoulins. “This is not a question of defining the technical modalities of the project, but rather a request for a permit, that is different“, explains automatically Pierre Pratpresident of the Community of Communes Pont du Gard.

The latter cites the article of the general code of local authorities which refers to this regulation. However, the acquisition must be made before December 31, the sales deadline for the owners of the land. “This must therefore be done before the date in question and with suspensive clauses. I was indeed advised to sign the sales agreement with the presence of clauses. In doubt about obtaining the permit, I am obliged to sign a compromise with these clauses“, adds the president of the CCPG.

Why wouldn’t we have this permit?, asks Élisabeth Viola, vice-president of the CCPG and elected representative in Remoulins. And then if we don’t have this permit, we will have a land reserve that we can resell“. The field with an area of 2,978m2 amounts to €300,000, the new headquarters is estimated at €850,000.

Nicolas Cartailler, mayor of Remoulins, also spoke this time to address the working method which “is not the right one”. “We have to build the project together, because for the moment it is only a sketch according to the architect. What is retro planning?“. Although the latter is in favor like all elected officials of this move which has become necessary, he nevertheless denounces “a lack of consultation and a hasty decision“.

You don’t have to rush and take your time. We are already almost in October, we could have waited before voting for this authorization“, added Nicolas Cartailler. “The project will then be studied, I assure you. A working group will be set up to look into the issue, I am committed to it. This evening, it’s just about this administrative authorization“, replied Pierre Prat.

This deliberation was voted by the council, with the exception of three elected officials from RemoulinNicolas Cartailler, Élisabeth Viola and Carole Galiny, opposition representative in Remoulins.
