The four men will be met by investigators from the Quebec City Police Service (SPVQ) to determine their precise role in the attack on a man in his fifties.

He was injured around 4:30 a.m. Sunday morning on rue Le Monelier.

Injured by a blunt object, the victim was transported to a hospital where there was no fear for his life.

The SPVQ confirmed at the end of Sunday afternoon the four arrests in this case after having erected for many hours a security perimeter which blocked access to rue de Chauvigny, in the same sector.

Forensic identity investigators were still working at the end of the day to determine the exact circumstances of the attack.

Residents encountered at the scene said they were surprised by the extent of the police deployment. “It’s a generally quiet neighborhood,” the lady who has lived in a condo building for more than 30 years told the Journal. “It seems like things like this are happening everywhere now.”

For her part, Sophie, who was walking her dog very close to the SPVQ security perimeter, claims to have seen police officers being more present in the area in recent days.

“It may not be related, but they had lights and they seemed to be looking for someone,” she said.
