Yann Lagoutte, director of the Pascal Jaouen art embroidery school in Quimper (Finistère), delicately takes two pouches out of their packaging. The first is embroidered with blue flowers in Beauvais stitch. A turquoise pattern extends over part of the second, similar to an envelope: “It reminds me of the Care Bears and their drawn bellies,” laughs the director.
A selection of 20 pieces
These two pieces are among the 20 presented in theexposure Kinklenn, from May 2, 2024 to March 24, 2025. A Breton term which means flirtatious.
Minaudières, handbags, clutches, envelopes… “We wanted current pieces, linked to Breton culture,” explains Yann Lagoutte.
This exhibition represents a two-year job. Eight embroiderers participated in the creation: “This offers a diversity of aesthetics. »
“These bags could be worn every day”
In the eyes of Yann Lagoutte, the bag is similar to a jewel. “I want the public to come away thinking that these bags could be worn every day. »
Outfits accompany this collection, including six created by Johanna de Rangot. Among them, this silk organza bustier, accompanied by high-waisted pink pants, a mix of wild silk and satin.
The milliner Catherine Roncin, based in Saint-Nazaire, was also contacted. The result is five pairs of bags and hats.
