Labor Day Obviously, a large part of Toulouse’s activity will be at a standstill this Wednesday May 1, 2024. But some businesses, markets and cultural places are resisting Toulouse. We take stock.

Hypermarkets closed…

There are few since the supermarkets, whether Auchan in Balma Gramont, E. Leclerc in Blagnac, Roques, Saint-Orens and Rouffiac-Tolosan, but also the Carrefour de Purpan, Portet-sur-Garonne and Labège or even the Géant Casino of Basso Combo will be closed for May 1st.

Except for a few (rare) convenience stores

The same goes for Intermarchés and most Carrefour markets and cities, in town. That of Saint-Cyprien, Saint-Georges or Esquirol, on the other hand, are announced as open on the site which lists all the brands in Toulouse.

Large garden centers open

On the other hand, in a nod to Lily of the Valley Day, those with a green thumb will be able to go to the Jardiland de l’Union, Montaudran and Portet-sur-Garonne, at usual times.

Apprentice gardeners will also be able to pass through the door of the botany in Blagnac, from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., but also Truffaut from Balma, Colomiers and Toulouse.

DIY enthusiasts, however, will not have the same luck since large DIY stores, usually open on Sundays and public holidays, will not be open this May 1.

Markets maintained

Food, fairground and covered markets such as Victor Hugo are maintained. The same goes for designer markets like CréasTaur which will be held from 1 p.m. to 30 p.m., with musical entertainment scheduled for 6 p.m.

Three museums at the rendezvous

In terms of culture and leisure, most places will have their doors closed. With the exception of three sites: the Cité de l’espace, the Flight of the Pioneers and the Aeroscopia museum.

All sports facilities such as swimming pools and ice rinks are closed for May 1st.

Part of the operational civil status

On the municipal services side, only a civil registry office will be provided for death declarations. You will need to go to number 2 rue l’Abbé Jules Lemre, from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and from 1:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.

The recycling centers, meanwhile, will all be closed. Just like all public transport, which will not provide service this public holiday.
