The Minister of Education, Bernard Drainville, pleaded for the return of snow mounds and the “King of the Mountain” to schools.

The latter reacted to a report from The Press which reported the increase in prohibited activities in schoolyards during the CAQ conference held Saturday in Saint-Hyacinthe.
He stressed the importance of these activities for children, despite the risks of injury associated with them.
“I’ve been telling myself for a while now that we need to bring back the snow mounds, especially because we loved playing King of the Mountain […]. There is a risk that a child could possibly get a little injury. This happened to me too when I fell on the ice. I’m not dead,” he said.
“We must allow our children to live within a certain space of risk,” he added.
This outing echoes the words of a memo that he had sent to schools and snow plows in which he called for the return of snow mounds to playgrounds.
