45 cases of rabies were recorded in animals between January and September 2024 in Senegal, indicated Doctor Anta Cheikh Guèye, member of the National Order of Veterinary Physicians of Senegal (ONMS), cited by the Senegalese Press Agency (APS ). Dr Guèye, who spoke during an activity as a prelude to World Rabies Day, also stressed that this disease remains a public health problem in Senegal. She explains that to control this menace, the Ministry of Livestock has undertaken a program of vaccination and elimination of stray dogs. According to Dr Guèye, 1469 domestic dogs were vaccinated and 1419 stray dogs were eliminated.
