It is one of the obligatory passages when visiting Evian-les-Bains. From Saturday April 26, 2024, the Evian funicular will reopen its doors for a new season. The last journey will take place on Sunday September 29.

Classified as a historic monument

Built in 1907, completely restored in 2002, the funicular constitutes a rare piece of European railway heritage and is listed Monument. It is owned and operated by the City of Evian.

Nicknamed the “little Evian metro”, it connects the city center of Évian-les-Bains to the town of Neuvecelle. It is the only funicular in to have six stations.

“To ensure operations, in addition to the operations manager, six men and women cabin attendants have been recruited for the season,” specifies the City in a press release.

Visitor record last year

The Evian funicular is a real phenomenon in the city. Last year, 193,800 passengers took it, a record.

It runs every day from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and from 1:15 p.m. to 7:20 p.m. A departure takes place every 20 minutes.

Important note: the ride is free!
