Jean-Luc Mélenchon predicts a rapid motion of censure for the Barnier government
“Barnier has no future. His promised destiny is that he will be defeated in the National Assembly, probably on his budget proposal, and that he will fall thanks to a motion of censure if those who call themselves opposition continue to be so. That is the truth.”declared the leader of La France Insoumise on Saturday.
The New Popular Front, which came out on top in the legislative elections in July, has announced that it will vote to censure the government. But to do so it will need the votes of the National Rally.
“This government is a union of losers, with characters who are more or less there for decoration, a pretense, and others who will be the real bosses, like Mr. Retailleau, president of the majority group in the Senate, who becomes the key man. In addition, we are told that he will be Minister of the Interior.”Mr. Mélenchon also said.
“But he is the one who will make the decisions in this country, since in the parliamentary shuttle all the texts pass through the Senate, and therefore, the Assembly votes what it wants. In the end, if we want to have the vote of LR [Les Républicains]Mr. Macron will always be forced to say yes to Mr. Retailleau. (…) Mr. Barnier is a decoration, an appearance, an illusion”he added.
In Paris, the leader of the “insoumis” deputies, Mathilde Panot, criticized the leader of the LR senators “to use the words of the extreme right when speaking of “French on paper” and “ethnic regression” in working-class neighborhoods”.
