“It is the result of collaboration between many partners: SPW (Nature and Forests department and Natural and Agricultural Environment Study department), hunting councils, Royal St Hubert Club, hunters, Cynégéweb, etc.,” explains the SPW.
The Royal Saint-Hubert Club of Belgium also insists that this mapping will only concern big game hunting. Small game hunting will not be listed on the Walloon geoportal.
“Because small game shooting is done with shot and with a range of only 60 to 70 meters“, notes Benoît Petit. The danger for the public is therefore much less than with shooting big game with bullets, justifies the president of the Royal Saint-Hubert Club of Belgium.
Clarifications from the police zone: “Hunting near homes is permitted. Only shooting within 200 metres and in the direction of homes is prohibited.”

- for the lookout : all day or, in some cases, only in the morning and evening, namely from 1 hour before official sunrise until 2 hours after sunrise, and from 2 hours before sunset until 1 hour after sunset. In this case, movement in the woods and forests indicated as closed for stalking remains perfectly possible outside these hours.
