SENEGAL-EDUCATION-RESEARCH / The University of Bambey hosts an international conference on the “summa divisio” – Senegalese press agency

Bambey, April 24 (APS) – An international conference on the “summa divisio” (Latin expression designating the main divisions between public law and civil law) opened Tuesday, at the Alioune Diop University (UADB) in Bambey, in the initiative of the legal and political sciences research group of the legal engineering department of this university institution.

During the three days of work, experts from public universities in the country and the sub-region will debate several themes.

The future of the “summa divisio”, its new trends, convergence and/or relativity of distinction between public law and private law and the relevance of the distinction between public law and private law are among other themes on which the participants are going to floor.

The expression summa divisio is frequently used in the legal field to indicate the main divisions between public law and civil law.

“This conference is part of the functioning of the university which also has a research vocation. This three-day meeting is a framework for inter-generational dialogue to allow students to better understand the summa divisio,” explained the head of the legal engineering department of the UADB, Professor Mballo Thiam

He indicated that this conference, which is in its first edition, will be continued to contribute to capacity building among learners.

Presiding over the opening ceremony of the conference, the rector of Alioune Diop University, Professor Ibrahima Faye, praised the organization of this international meeting which, according to him, contributes to the scientific animation of the university. He reiterated the rectorate’s commitment to supporting this type of initiative for the university’s influence.
