There are still two months to wait… But, the Festival du laughter team, after revealing the headliners Vincent Seroussi, Carlos Flinnroi, Laurie Perret and Waly Dia, announced who would chair the 2024 edition, scheduled for June 25 to 29. This is Jeanfi Janssens, scheduled for Thursday evening on the stage of the Georges-Leygues theater. He will therefore extend his stay in the bastide to participate in the jury’s choice concerning the springboard for young talents. Jeanfi Jannsens became, in the space of a one-man show, the best-known steward in . It was in 2011. Since then, he has performed on increasingly larger stages, the cinema, alongside Dany Boon, and the theater, in the company of Stéphane Plaza. He comes to the Georges-Leygues stage with a new one-man show, entitled “Tombé du ciel”, in which he recounts his arrival in show business and how notoriety changed his life.

The artist will then be in the front row to witness the performances of the six comedians selected by the Festival du laughter team to participate in the young talent springboard. For the most part, they were spotted off the Festival: “What we were looking for, above all, was originality in substance and in form,” assured Tony Feijoo, president of the festival. , who attended no less than 44 shows during the year.

From off in Avignon

If none of the selected talents do improvisation, they all already have solid background on stage. Some even have an artistic career spanning around ten years: “It’s true that, for some time now, we have seen older comedians in the springboard, who already have productions behind them. But that doesn’t mean they make a living from the stage. They didn’t make the right meeting at the right time. The springboard can be the boost they are missing,” adds Tony Feijoo, who cites Gérémy Crédeville as an example, for whom the festival was a career accelerator.

With the proliferation of comedy clubs, applicants for humor have become more visible, “but are also more numerous. In the end, there are few elected officials,” underlines Tony Feijoo. The latter, however, regrets not having been able to select more candidates: “We saw some gems, people known on social networks as well, who we would like to highlight. » For this reason, the president of the festival is already anticipating next year, with the idea of starting the festival on Monday, with an evening at the cultural center reserved for talents other than those selected for the springboard. “A sort of selection of the festival team that we would highlight. » The laughter festival would last a week.
