Maine-et-. On the II square, an air of anniversaries at the Heritage Days

For several years, the Carreau du II players have liked to come together for the Heritage Days. This 2024 edition, on September 21 and 22, will not deviate from the (good) rule. With an emphasis also placed on anniversaries.

Ten years of the Iron Mines Association

Accessible continuously, the “In the footsteps of the miners” route can also be enjoyed through guided tours, at 3 p.m.

On Saturday, at 5 p.m., the place will take on a special appearance since a friendly time will be organized to celebrate the tenth anniversary of the association Les Mines de fer de l’Anjou. The members of the association were invited, as well as the 80 or so extras and 40 volunteers who participated in the theatrical parades of “La statue de fer” in September 2013.

In 2013, Caroline Galisson staged some 80 extras in a play paying homage to the “black faces.” From this came the desire to save the wasteland, leading to the creation of the association Les mines de fer de l’Anjou. Archives Ouest-

“Carole Galisson and Pierre Suteau, a local historian, had worked on this play and said to themselves: “why not perform it on the Carreau?”recalls Marc Beluet, president of the association. During rehearsals, the idea came to mind: “Couldn’t we try to save the industrial wasteland and develop it?” A year later, the association was born.

To celebrate this tenth anniversary, the statue of Louise Michel, created for this piece by Manon Perrier and Romain Goiset, until now installed at Centrale 7, will permanently join the “In the footsteps of the miners” route.

20 years for Centrale 7

But this 2024 vintage coincides with other anniversaries. “It’s a somewhat symbolic year because twenty years ago, it was the opening of Centrale 7 (which became an association in 2006), underlines Jimmix, present at the creation. And thirty years ago, had been played on the floor, another show, Germinal by Franck Trillot. » Archives of this work are exhibited in the basement of the studio of the painter Florent Maussion.

At Centrale 7, guided tours will be organized every day from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. A circus artist will perform a demonstration of aerial acrobatics with fabrics. She will be accompanied by a singer and a harpist.

The exhibition “Fe”, on iron ore, will be extended. It is very popular and fits well with the theme of Heritage Days, explains Carine Josset, the new coordinator of Centrale 7. We thought it was relevant to keep it.”

A powerful installation at the Black Earth Park

At the Parc de terre noire, Jimmix will pay tribute to Rémy Ménard, a sculptor and artist who died last spring and is originally from Vern-d’Anjou. “He was a bit of a mentor to me, he opened my eyes, I met him in Quebec.”

In the afternoons, it will be possible to practice climbing along the concrete tower, supervised by two specialists: Sori Coulibaly and Cyril Coudray.

While the visual artist Paul K will exhibit on the ground floor of the bouletage, Antoine Bouguier and Patrick Rocard will take over the upper floor. They have created an installation there, taking advantage of “the monumental architecture of the place. As the building is extremely powerful, we also have to find something powerful.” For the occasion, they chose to highlight old clothes, in the form of collages and hangings. “We want to recall the idea of disaster but in a poetic way.” Next to it, a hole invites you to dive into a space “more intimate”.

On the musical side, Serge Koepf, a recycled sculptor, will play DJ during the two afternoons.

On Saturday evening, the duo Roue libre (guitar, saxophone) will perform. At nightfall, Franck Trillot and Jean-Louis Livenais will once again pay tribute to the miners with their musical reading which won over the crowds this summer at the Mine bleue. A concert ” surprise ” will punctuate the day which should end around midnight.
