The pylon with a height of 36 meters dominates the Crépon industrial zone in Piolenc. It was at the top of the hill that the deputy director of the French Telecoms Federation, Olivier Riffard, and representatives of the operators Bouygues Telecom, , SFR and Free, joined by the prefect of , Thierry Suquet, inaugurated the installation of the 4G pylon.

The opportunity for the delegation to discuss progress in the deployment of 4G coverage in Vaucluse. And of course, to highlight the collective commitment of the operators to gradually remove from the departmental map the white zones where mobile coverage is almost non-existent. To succeed in this project of accelerating the deployment of the network, the communities identify, in a first step, the territories with high need, then the operators finance and ensure the construction of the 4G sites.

A system supported by the state to support rural areas

The “New Deal Mobile” targeted 4G coverage project commits the four operators and the public authorities to cover all rural or white areas by the end of 2027, by installing 5 000 4G pylons multi-operators, like that of Piolenc.

The improvement in the quality of the mobile network and good coverage, particularly inside buildings, were eagerly awaited by the mayor of Piolenc and the residents. According to ARCEP (the regulatory authority for electronic communications, postal services and press distribution), 88 % of French territory is now covered and 67 % of the sites are located in rural areas. In Vaucluse, the New Deal Mobile, whose operators’ investment amounts to €13.8 billion in 2023, some 35 sites are concerned by the operation.

21 installations in 20 municipalities in Vaucluse

By 2027, no fewer than 21 4G pylons will be installed in 20 municipalities in Vaucluse, identified as white zones : Buisson, Villedieu, Mornas, La Roque-Alric, Beaumont-de-Ventoux, Pernes-les-Fontaines, Venasque, Blauvac, Sault, Lioux, Gargas, Gignac, Ménerbes, Saignon, Saint-Martin-de-Castillon, Auribeau, Peypin-d’Aigues, Sannes, Ansouis and two in Monieux.
