A 26-year-old woman was found dead, lying on her bed, on the night of Sunday to Monday, in Rosny-sous-Bois (Seine-Saint-Denis). She showed signs of strangulation. The Bobigny prosecutor’s office confirmed that a femicide had indeed taken place, without giving further details to AFP, confirming information from Actu17.
When police officers arrived at his home, the husband, who is strongly suspected of being the perpetrator, did not appear to be in full possession of his mental faculties. According to a police Source, he reportedly said he was “possessed by the devil.”
He was also in a worrying condition. The 29-year-old man was bleeding profusely from his lower abdomen. According to the same Source, he had “mutilated his genitals with a bladed weapon”. He was transferred to the nearest hospital.
An autopsy is scheduled for Tuesday to determine the circumstances of the woman’s death. According to “initial information, this couple of Moldovan origin was not known to the judicial services,” the prosecution said.

It is also not known whether the man has been diagnosed with a psychiatric illness. If it were proven that he was in a state of dementia at the time of the act, he would not be eligible for police custody and would instead be subject to compulsory hospitalization in a specialized facility. The investigation has been entrusted to the Seine-Saint-Denis departmental judicial police service (SDPJ).
Two other femicides have cast a shadow over the year 2024 in Seine-Saint-Denis. In mid-July, Romdhana, a 58-year-old woman, was stabbed to death by her partner in Bobigny. Before her, in February, Hayatte, 38, was stabbed to death by her husband in Montfermeil. He was interned following the incident.
On average, a femicide occurs every three days in France. According to the Ministry of Justice, there were 94 femicides in 2023, compared to 118 in 2022.
