The École de Technologie Supérieure is a constituent of the University of Quebec network. Specializing in teaching and applied research in engineering and technology transfer, it trains engineers and researchers recognized for their practical and innovative approach. The title of the position listed in the collective agreement is: Research Advisor. What will be your impact as a Research Advisor – Subsidy to the Deanship of Research at ÉTS?

You will advise, assist and guide professors and researchers in the orientation, planning and administration of subsidized or contracted research activities; write, develop and apply the rules and policies of ÉTS and granting organizations; assist the Deputy Director in disseminating information on the School’s expertise to external partners and in realizing the potential of ÉTS in terms of research, innovation and university-business partnership in strategic areas of ÉTS.

Detailed description of the position’s tasks, for information only:
On a daily basis, the recruited person:

  • Assists researchers in the presentation, writing and processing of their project funding applications and, if necessary, suggests modifications to improve their chances of being awarded.
  • Supports researchers in the financial arrangement of funding requests, ensuring that it complies with the requirements of external organizations as well as ÉTS policies.
  • Develops appropriate strategies to initiate collaborations, supports professors and researchers in their approaches to companies and national and international granting organizations; assists professors and researchers in establishing collaboration and monitors these steps to promote success.
  • Ensures administrative monitoring of grants between ÉTS and external partners; ensures monitoring and compliance with applicable administrative, financial and legal compliance aspects; collaborates closely with various departments, particularly with the Finance Department.
  • Identifies and qualifies, in concert with researchers, companies or groups of companies potentially interested in their expertise and know-how; develops appropriate strategies to initiate collaborations using current best practices; if necessary, initiates the first contact or supports professors and researchers in their approaches to companies and national and international granting organizations; assists professors and researchers in establishing collaboration and monitors these steps to promote success.
  • Represents the University before external organizations; participates in internal and external management committees; prepares the necessary documents; and follows up on decisions.
  • Participates in the coordination, development and outreach of research on a provincial, national and international basis through various internal and external initiatives, in particular by organizing and carrying out promotional, training and information activities for researchers.
  • Periodically prepares summary and comparative reports concerning the research performance of ÉTS, taking into account reliable indicators.
  • Ensures the updating of file information in the project monitoring system in collaboration with the people concerned in order to generate dashboards and other relevant information.
  • Exercises an advisory role on all questions concerning policies, funding objectives and research development priorities.
  • Represents the University before external organizations; participates in internal and external management committees; prepares the necessary documents; and follows up on decisions.
  • Collaborates in the review and improvement of management processes as well as the development of information systems.
  • Maintains up-to-date knowledge relating to its field of activities, its environment and its network of stakeholders. Attends conferences and conferences and carries out appropriate scientific readings.

DO YOU HAVE WHAT IT TAKES TO TAKE THE CHALLENGE?

  • Master’s degree in engineering or Master’s degree in any other appropriate discipline.
  • Minimum three (3) years of relevant professional experience, related to research management, support during grant applications.
