Olympic leads 1-0 in the play-off final. Opposed to Massagno, the Fribourgeois narrowly won act 1 on Saturday in front of nearly 2,500 spectators: 73 to 72.

This Tuesday evening, it’s time for act 2: the Ticino residents will once again travel to Saint-Léonard, before hosting the third duel on Saturday as well as the possible act 4 next Tuesday at the Nosedo hall.

Basketball enthusiast and connoisseur

Friborg Olympic experienced quite a few changes during last summer, with the arrivals of Thibaut Petit as new coach, Pascal Joye as new president and Ambros Binz as new sports director.

I have Friborg basketball in my heart

The Singinois is a rather discreet man. Anyone who works in Bern in a company active in telecommunications knows Friborg basketball very well: he has been a player (notably at Marly), coach (notably at Villars Basket) or even founder of the Wünnewil club.

Now 57 years old, Ambros Binz is enjoying his first season as Olympic sporting director and it’s going well, to say the least: victory in the League Cup in January , crowned in the Swiss Cup in April and finalist in the play-offs.

We take trophies willingly, but what pleases me the most is team cohesion.

Ambros Binz, who met Pascal Joye when they were players, is already preparing for next season. If all the Swiss players and the coach are already under contract, this is not the case for the foreign players: the Americans Eric Nottage, Ross Williams and Xavier Green as well as the Senegalese Cheikh Sané. The next discussions will take place after this final which is played in the best of five matches.
