The affair has caused a lot of noise in the last few hours in Chavigny, and has been denounced by several parents to the management. On Monday, the management of the school and the Chemin-du-Roy School Service Center were informed of what was happening. The man was met and his contract was terminated, as he was replacing another teacher who had left for a certain period of time.

But for several parents, the situation raises serious questions about the hiring process, while the teacher’s actions, particularly on social networks, had been known for a long time and even visible to everyone. As recently as Tuesday, we could easily access a range of his publications on his page called QC Patriote.

Among the videos that began circulating in the school, a video showed him in the streets of Ottawa, during the truckers’ demonstration, visibly intoxicated, and chasing journalists with his phone to insult them.

The video has been widely circulated at Chavigny high school for several days. (Facebook)

The video made Michel* jump, whose child had been taking the ECR course with the man since he arrived at the school.

“What knocks me down is that it was known, at least by the teacher he replaced,” says Michel. Indeed, according to his child, the teacher would have warned his students, before going on leave, that the person who was going to replace him was sharing “a little special” things on his social networks, but that he was convinced that it was would go well.

“From the first lesson, my son came back from school telling me that the teacher maintained that the Amish were not autistic because they did not get vaccinated,” recalls the father, still shaken by this story.

In addition to these comments, the now fired teacher has already mentioned several things on his social networks, also relaying publications from well-known conspiracy theorists, notably François Amalega. Publications on chemtrailson global awakening, the deepstate and on the “climate scam” are also among his frequent publications. However, in public mode, he has not shared anything since fall 2023.

In a video recorded last June, he particularly deplored the fact that teachers could be fired for questioning vaccines. He mentions that when teaching ethics, it is normal for a teacher to be able to talk about the pros and cons of vaccination.

“It makes me angry that students could have been exposed to an individual like this. It also makes me wonder a lot about the strategy of the Minister of Education, who said that it took ”one adult per class”. But are we really there? Is having conspiratorial adults who teach all kinds of crazy theories to our children sufficient and acceptable for the minister?”

At the School Service Center, a written statement was sent to the media on Tuesday afternoon.

“Last evening, the School Service Center was informed of the situation. From this morning [mardi], the school administration met with the teacher concerned and the Human Resources Department terminated the employment relationship. This person had been hired for the first time to carry out a replacement. In total, he will have worked 12 days for the School Service Center. We would like to emphasize that student safety has never been compromised. Checks confirm that the person has no criminal record. However, the comments and values expressed by this person in no way correspond to the standards expected of our staff members as well as the values of our organization,” indicates the spokesperson for the School Service Center, Anne-Marie Bellerose.

But for Michel, the damage is done, since this dismissal that has just been pronounced against the teacher could serve the cause of several people relaying his ideas, making him a “victim of the system”.

“It seems to me that it’s not very complicated to check the social networks of people you plan to hire. It wasn’t even hidden, it was very openly displayed,” points out the father.

As of Tuesday afternoon, the School Service Center was unable to provide details on hiring procedures with regard to applicants’ social networks. However, it was reiterated that the man had no criminal record.

*Michel asked not to reveal his identity, fearing reprisals for his children.
