On the occasion of the Paris Adventure Film Festival, meeting with a Franco-Swedish shipowner and sailor, a great lover of the poles.
When she talks about the frozen sea, Sophie Galvagnon takes us with her, on board, literally. Very early on, this Franco-Swedish woman was attracted to the cold areas of the world and after studying in the merchant navy in France, she became, at just 27 years old, the first woman in command of a polar expedition ship. Today, at 37, she continues to experience the extreme conditions of ice navigation; it also participates in innovative tourist or scientific exploration ship projects in the Arctic or Antarctic, thereby nourishing this tenacious polar imagination which has sent men and women for centuries to these formerly unknown lands. and which we now know are increasingly fragile and crucial to the survival of our planet.
This weekend, for once, it is not on the bridge of a boat that we find Sophie Galvagnon, but in the dark rooms, as part of the Adventure Film Festival of Paris, organized by the French tour operator Terres d’Aventures, where Sophie Galvagnon serves as a member of the jury and speaker. Because with her, the white planet has never been so close…
