“Enjoy the moment until the end”
In the Prix d’Amérique Legend Race 2025, I will be associated with It’s a Dollarmaker (606). In the Prix de Belgique – America Races Q6, the horse needed that. With his imposing physique, he needs rhythm. Plus, it didn’t turn out the way I thought it would. We did a big last lap and I had to travel with my nose in the wind. We’re going to be better this time. We have to anyway because we’re tackling “the beautiful one”, it’s no longer the qualifiers. We will try to have a smooth route, saving it, in order to keep a thirst for the finish at the end, while trying to start a little more than in “Belgium”. We are barred by some more efficient horses. I’m just hoping for a race with momentum, which is normally the case in the Prix d’Amérique. Thus, he is able to come and get a fourth or fifth place. It would be magnificent to finish in the quinté. My favorites will be Go On Boy, Idao de Tillard et Josh Powerwhich are the three good bases before the shot. I am also wary ofHooker Berryvery practical for this type of race. We will try not to do anything stupid, not to make unnecessary efforts and to enjoy the moment until the end.
“I find my good horses”
Saturday, as a preamble to the big meeting on Sunday, I find my good horses. These are the ones who move us forward. In the Prix Bold Eagle (Gr. I – Quinté+), I will be on the sulky of Ksar (411). “D4” hasn’t been featured often, but the few times it has, it delivered. Each time, he narrowly failed to win. Last time, in the Critérium Continental (Gr. I), he performed extremely well, despite an unfavorable number. He arrives at this goal with freshness, which is very important with him. I’m confident it can happen. The course will make the difference in this generation, where the horses stand closely together. In the Prix Ourasi (Gr. I), Frank Gio (615) has a first chance in a top class field. He knows how to do everything and adapts to all courses. Remained in good shape and again “D4”, he has nothing against him and deserves to win his group I. Then, I will find Golden Gio (708) in the Prix Paul Viel (Gr. II). Marco Smorgon was a little worried about the short distance last time, preferring it to be longer. He did it really well and will therefore be even better on the 2,700 meters of the big track. The colt has since arrived at Sébastien Guarato and has worked well again. It’s a very good element. He should repeat. In the Prix du Luxembourg (Gr. III), Face Time (805) will try to defend his title. The horse needed a real race last and I didn’t think I would be thwarted like that. He has “bounced back” since then and found his preferred distance. He should show a much better face. In the other tests, Warrior Castelets (909), who lost the benefit of his efforts after investigation last time, can take a place. You just have to be careful when flying, where it can be brutal. Lady Bird Jenilat (212) is a brave filly but has no margin. We’re going to do little arm. Finally, Keen of the Night (1013) didn’t excite me last and needs reassurance. In Angers, Lola de Guérinière (207) et Love To Run (210) will return to school. You have to watch them run.
The information
Sunday, I will start my day at the sulky of Kémilla de Brion (101), who discovers a beautiful commitment. Since she’s not sparkling at work, I prefer her Caliskan (111), who did not feel comfortable in Cordemais, even though she was able to play a good role. I had left him in chains for this commitment. I expect a good performance. Kennedy France (408) was not spoiled by the draw, but he is a brave little horse, who does all his races. He will aim for a place. In the Prix Jean-René Gougeon (Gr. III), Encountered Dairpet (713) faces a good field and starts on the second line. He has the advantage of being on his distance, but we will have to play it smart and come and finish. To conclude, I will support Franck Nivard on his filly, Little Wings (814), who discovers a great commitment and will be barefoot for the occasion. It’s a fun move. In Nantes, Lord Turgot will have a first chance. In the same event, Lord de Brion can take a check on his class, while Lypstic Atout should be missing. There will also be Silver Indexwho galloped while winning on Sunday at Vincennes. Even when shod, it can stick.
Monday, I will go to Bordeaux especially for Kéops Begonia. He just won at Vincennes, but he’s the real right-hander and I didn’t want to go back to the left right away. There aren’t many starters. He should confirm. With Gybor Wellthe field has widened and even if there are interesting horses at the first post, he will come to finish and take a good position.
-Tuesday in Vincennes, Funky Roc will be there. We have to get this good horse back. The last time, I took the reins off him and tackled him; it escaped me on the way down. He discovers a great opportunity to redeem himself.
Wednesday near Angers, I will surely declare Love de Cerizewho has just been second to Cordemais. It’s not bad. In the same race, Here it is Sautonne will have ambitions. He had won twice at the end of the year and I returned to Pontchâteau for this entry. Karla de Banvillewho has just won with my brother in Nantes, will also have a good card to play.
“The best one won”
In the Prix de Cornulier, Joumba de Guez was my favorite. She was able to take orders quite easily and they weren’t very quick after that. It was folded. The waiters were unable to return. We saw a nice final rush. I really liked the performance of Damien Bonne’s mare, Jewelcandle Facwho I saw as having a great chance. In the end, the best one won because she was able to take the train on her own. Ina you Rib was also very good because she restarted well after a little pump in the last turn. Among the relative disappointments, we can cite Gazelle de Valwhich ended up a little far away, or Ideal Oakwho tends to become demotivated when she is not in the fight. We still saw a very good race. Eric’s (Raffin) emotion after the finish was beautiful to see. He is getting older and it is in these races that the adrenaline comes out, once he has passed the post. We must also congratulate the organizers, because there was a crazy atmosphere throughout the afternoon. 25,000 people for a “Cornulier”, that’s a pleasure. I can’t wait until Sunday to see if there will be a rebound in the Prix d’Amérique, hoping for good weather.
“I had prepared myself not to have a big meeting”
I am aware of not having a big meeting. I tinker. Some good horses, like those this weekend, allowed me to shine in the drive. I had prepared myself mentally, because several of my representatives were arrested, voluntarily or even involuntarily. I also did some sorting. I therefore did not approach the meeting with a large cavalry. When you expect it, it’s always easier to digest. Currently, I am doing a lot of back and forth with the countryside in order to prepare for spring and the province. New horses arrive and others return to work. I am hopeful of returning to the forefront soon.
