This is not the first agreement signed between the Argentine province and the Italian brand. In 2024, the local government initiated measures to allow vicuña fiber producers located in remote areas to market their products without intermediaries. These efforts aim to guarantee a fair price while preserving biodiversity.

According to local portal El Ancasti, this partnership also allowed a group of Argentine producers to travel to Italy to visit the Loro Piana factory and observe the brand’s industrial processes.

Recognized for its exceptional materials such as cashmere, linen, extra-fine merino and vicuna fiber, Loro Piana, whose headquarters is based in Milan, specializes in the manufacture of knitted items, but of shoes and accessories.

The Catamarca Government highlights that the direct purchase of vicuña fiber by Loro Piana encourages local producers to adopt environmentally friendly practices and contributes to the conservation of this emblematic species.
