His shop, which has been a favorite of the Palais-Royal gardens and collectors since 1974, is closing its doors. While a final sale of 350 exceptional lots will be held on January 30, the “antique dealer” of haute couture confides to us his greatest joys and his regrets about what fashion has become today.

This time it’s the right one. After fifty years spent welcoming enthusiasts from all over the world in his Ali Baba’s cave, installed under the arcades of the Palais-Royal, Didier Ludot draws the curtain. His latest treasures will be dispersed on January 30 (1) during a final auction, closing a series of sales in recent years which have reached dizzying records (the “Les Tournesols” jacket by Yves Saint Laurent , embroidered by Lesage and sold for €382,000 in 2019), but also highlighted more confidential creations, fragments of fashion history.
