Members met this Wednesday, January 15 in the CREA conference room.
This general assembly was an opportunity to bring together members and supporters of the Millau – Sagunto twinning to learn about the latest news from the Committee. The members responded, as did representatives of the town hall and various Millavian cultural associations.
To begin, an update was made on the situation and organization of the Committee, during the absence of President Jacques Cohen, who was unable to attend for health reasons. A dozen members came together to ensure collegial management of all of the Committee’s activities.
To do this, different commissions were created: administrative management, cultural management, information and dissemination, sport and youth, film club, travel, Hispanicity, Romanity.
-The various reports concerning the year 2024 were also presented (moral report, activity report, financial report) then submitted to the vote of the assembly. Amendments to the association’s statutes and internal regulations were also adopted.
Subsequently, this assembly proceeded with the renewal of a third of the members of the Board of Directors and the election of the various candidates for 2025. Fifteen members are elected to the Board of Directors, and the office is validated. Dominique Torres is elected Co-President, Jacques Cohen remaining President.
The General Assembly maintains the price of the membership fee at €10, for the year 2025. As no other question was on the agenda, the session was able to adjourn at 8:30 p.m. before the participants met. around a friendly drink, bringing the evening to a convivial close.
The major events of 2025:
- “Hablemos Español”: exchange group in Castilian led by two facilitators, Tuesday every 15 days, from 9:30 a.m. to 11 a.m.
- Ciné-Club Millau-Sagunto: around ten films screened at the Millau cinema (from September to June) one Monday per month (at 2:00 p.m. and 8:30 p.m.) each session is presented by a volunteer from the Committee.
- Prochains films: March 17: “I am Nevenka”; April 7: “Memory of a body that burns”; 5 mai: “No one wants the night”; June 2: “20,000 species of bees.”
- Reading night: February 1, participation in the Millau Media Library to present and read texts and poems in Spanish.
- Theater “927”: March 6: “My name is José, I am a survivor of Mathausen. Here is my story.” (session at 8:30 p.m., René Rieux room)
- “Perséphone” show: March 19, A season in hell, flamenco tragedy. (session at 8:30 p.m., René Rieux room).
- Story: “A memory under the sand”: on March 11, Isabelle Fesquet recounts La Retirada (session at 8:30 p.m., René Rieux room)
- Ludi Classici: on April 29, in partnership with MUMIG, Latin teachers from the colleges of Millau, Séverac d’Aveyron, Espalion, Rodez, La Cavalerie offer a day on Romanity through discovery workshops on the site of Graufesenque, there are around 600 to 700 middle school students who participate.
- Spring of the Poets: (April) “Volcanic Poetry”
- Interclass travel to Spain: support exchanges with financial assistance for departing classes.
- Trip – “In the footsteps of Goya”: from March 31 to April 4, in the Zaragoza region. This stay will be preceded by the screening of Carlos Saura’s film, “Goya en Burdeos”
- Trip to Sagunto: end of September/beginning of October: “Moros y Christianos” (under study)
- End of year evening: in November.
