“I always dream of someone feeling unwell. I haven’t had cardiac massage and I wish it had. I’m crossing my fingers because I’m a first aider,” she confides with a laugh. But for Virginie Hocq, this wish was born from a true passion for first aid: she is trained to intervene in an emergency.
The comedian recalled a striking anecdote that occurred during one of his shows: “The lady choked on a hair from her coat. She had a little fur coat which must not have been properly fastened,” she says, eliciting laughter from Éric Dussart and Jade in We are remaking TV. Faced with this unexpected situation, Virginie Hocq did not lose her composure. “I can’t act like nothing happened when I’m all alone on stage. So I said, ‘Turn on the lights.’ I did the gestureseverything went well for this lady. She’s not dead!” she confides, relieved.
The artist applied the emergency maneuver necessary to save this spectator. “I did the method you know for choking, the maneuver. I may have pushed a little too hard, there was already a nosebleed, but the person is alive!” However, Virginie Hocq admits to having her limits when it comes to intervening. “If someone vomits, I let them die, I don’t like vomit” she jokes with her usual frankness. She also recalls another episode where she had to place a person in a side safety position: “I did everything necessary, but at one point, she was going to vomit. There, I thought: ‘I ‘I’ve done my part, I’m waiting for help now.’”
One thing is certain: her audience can count on her to laugh, and sometimes even to be saved!
