Twenty years after the tragic death of Ndongo Lo, an emblematic figure of Senegalese music, Djily Niang, his long-time manager, delivered a poignant account of his last moments. This testimony, published by our colleagues at Kawtef, highlights the strength and resilience of the artist in the face of his health problems.
Despite his suffering, which he preferred to hide to spare those around him, Ndongo Lo was inflexible in his artistic commitment. He continued to work on new creations, determined to leave a lasting musical imprint.
Djily Niang also describes the intense emotion that marked the days preceding the artist’s death, highlighting the affection and respect shown to him by his family, his collaborators and his admirers.
-These revelations, relayed by Kawtef, underline not only the artistic heritage of Ndongo Lo but also the emotional impact of his disappearance on those around him.
