Bruno Putzulu was born at Toutainvillein Eure, next to Pont-Audemer. He did the National Higher Conservatory of Dramatic Art of Paris before entering as resident at the Comédie-Française. His activity as an actor takes him to cinema and television. Writing and singing are also part of his universe. With Philippe Noirethe wrote a book, I enjoyed myselfand a song for Johnny Hallyday, My Life. Bruno Putzulu will be on Stage 5 in Louviers, Sunday January 19 at 4 p.m. to show us all his talent.
You played the play Les Ritals in Louviers in 2019, what is your feeling when you return to Eure, like here, on Sunday, to perform La Lettre d’Italie?
Indeed, I played the piece Les Ritals by François Cavanna on stage in Louviers in March 2019 with my accordionist. It was a great pleasure. On this occasion, the mayor of Louviers told me that I would come back to play in his town. Sometimes it can fall on deaf ears. No, he responded, the mayor of Louviers is a man of his word! Coming back to Louviers means coming back to my region, it’s always a great pleasure to play here, I’m a bit like at home.
How was the play La Lettre d’Italie born?
The idea for the play La Lettre d’Italie came from the director of the Belfort national theater, Eleonora Rossi. My brother Mario Putzulu wrote the text and prepared the direction. We brought together a team of two actresses and three actors to rehearse the play for many months. In Louviers, this will be the 7th performance of the play.
Was becoming an actor a childhood dream?
-I have a fascinating career as an actor, even though when I was a child I dreamed of becoming a professional football player. My older brother was a teacher, he did amateur theater. So I started taking theater lessons and then I became a resident of the Comédie Française for 12 years.
What are your plans for 2025?
I am currently rehearsing the play Le Journal until January 21 and then performing it at the Paris theater from January 22. I therefore perform several pieces with Les Ritals and La Lettre d’Italie. This summer, we could play “La Lettre d’Italie” at the Avignon festival. Also, I am currently in discussions to write the text and music for a film.
The Letter from Italy
The discovery of a letter that was not intended for him will take Luca in search of the lost paradise of childhood, following in his father’s footsteps. This father, Zuani, a shepherd from Sardinia, had fled hunger to become Jean, a worker in France. For Luca, the secret revealed by the letter disturbs the meaning of the bond which united Jean to Zuani. The search for a new meaning will be punctuated by dark and bright moments, painful and sweet nostalgia. From this chiaroscuro perhaps radiant days will emerge.
A journey between fiction and autobiography, sorrow and hope, ghosts and beings of flesh, nostalgia and the strength of the present.
