Gérard Depardieu, prosecuted by actress Charlotte Arnould, for rape and sexual assault that he allegedly committed in August 2018, will appear before the Paris Court of Appeal on January 16, 2025.
The actor's lawyers have questioned several aspects of the ongoing investigation. To this end, they filed two new appeals which will be examined this week.
Gérard Depardieu hits back
The first aims to quash the testimony of an alleged victim. The latter was expressed in the columns of Mediapart. Indeed, she said that in 2014, on the set of “Big House” directed by Jean-Emmanuel Godart, there had been an incident.
And to explain: “Without warning, Gérard Depardieu put his hand under my dress. He tried to pull aside my panties and finger me. If I hadn't stopped him, he would have succeeded”.
A testimony sent by e-mail to investigators, which Gérard Depardieu contests and which Charlotte Arnould's lawyer plans to use. Indeed, Me Carine Durrieu-Diebolt would have brought this “mode of operation” of the one used for his client.
The second point that Gérard Depardieu wants to have it canceled, this is the use of the report of the show “Further investigation“, from December 2023against him. As a reminder, it included images filmed in 2018, during the actor's trip to North Korea. One scene in particular caused controversy.
-Filmed at a stud farm, featured him saying while looking at a little girl “If he ever gallops, she cums”. Since then, it has been proven, through an investigation, that it was a fraudulent setup.

Will these two appeals be accepted by the courts? To be continued. For the moment, Gérard Depardieu's previous attempt had not been conclusive. Indeed, in March 2022, while he requested its annulment, the court of appeal confirmed his indictment.
Accused by several women, the hero of “Cyrano de Bergerac“must also appear at the end of March 2025, for sexual assault again, but in a different case. This time, the facts with which he is accused date back to September 2021 during the filming of “Green shutters“, with Anouk Grinberg, in particular.
