“Words fail and I admit that I lack concentration, because I am haunted by the images I see.”

This is how Sylvie Vartan expressed herself about the tragedy hitting California.

The singer, visibly very moved, was the guest of Laurent Delahousse in the show “20h30 Le Dimanche” on France 2 this January 12. The icon of the yéyé years moved to California many years ago to escape the tumult of Parisian life and provide his son, David Hallyday, then a young child, with a “normal” life.

The ex-wife of Johnny Hallyday owns a villa in Los Angeles, acquired with her husband, the American actor and producer Tony Scotti. While violent fires have been ravaging California for almost a week, Sylvie Vartan confided to Laurent Delahousse her deep dismay.

“These are images of the apocalypse, which disturb me a lot and which cause me a lot of pain. I have a lot of friends who have lost everything, and all these people who are completely in despair. It’s truly something unthinkable how in the space of a few hours, lives are turned upside down to the point of being destroyed…” she laments.

After 60 years of career, Sylvie Vartan bids farewell to the stage, with three last exceptional concerts at the Palais des Congrès at the end of January.
