The Memory of Minahouëts (LMDM) has installed in the window of its premises, in Locmiquélic, a collection of more than a thousand Galette des Rois beans. “We found them in our drawers, but most were lent to us by fabophiles (bean collectors),” says Christian Le Roux, president of the association.
This is the case of Liliane Horel who has more than 250 different ones. “I’ve had collector’sitis for a long time,” she admits mischievously. “I also collect Champagne cork caps.” For several years, in pastries, she has bought complete series, presented in boxes. Beans on themes as diverse as the SNSM, lighthouses, film characters or even advertising beans.
Mathéo, eight years old, also exhibits his collection, started when he was only four years old. “I have 148 beans,” he announces proudly. “I especially collect beans based on characters from my favorite series: Minions, Harry Potter, Arthur and the Minimoys.”
