In an interview with “Variety,” Hugh Grant admitted to having hatched a sort of plot for which his wife, Anna Eberstein, paid the price. Her goal was to ensure that she would never discover the film “Nine Months” by Chris Colombus. In this feature film released in 1995, Grant landed his first major role in a Hollywood production. He played opposite Julianne Moore.

“My wife always wanted to see it, but I forbade her,” the actor said. The reason? Hugh Grant judges that he delivered such a pitiful performance that he had to be prevented at all costs. “Let me emphasize that everyone involved in this film, with the exception of me, was brilliant and talented,” says the actor.

To achieve his goals, he says, with his trademark humor, that he “put parental control on the television”!

In “Nine Months Too,” Hugh Grant played Julianne Moore’s boyfriend. Their relationship becomes complicated when they learn that they are going to become parents. Robin Williams and Jeff Goldblum were also part of the cast.

Long typecast in romantic comedies, Hugh Grant is increasingly turning to darker roles. He was rewarded for his torturer character in the recent “Heretic” by Scott Beck and Bryan Woods. “Playing good guys is complicated. It’s hard to stop them from being annoying. In my opinion, the majority of actors prefer to turn to villain roles. It’s much more interesting to interpret,” confides Hugh Grant.
