Works by tender, poetic and sassy women to discover in

Under the subdued light of the basement sits an unexpected Globy (eyeball) imagined by L’Armari de Simone. There, these are the moving ones Bright years by Sarah Saint-Macaire which disturbs the visitor. There is also The Queen of Terramorphosis, the Get in there by Telma Augusto, the Muscular woman of Kaz’, or the Talismans by Céline H2o.

Until Tuesday January 14, 23 women are exhibiting some of their works at the Pavillon du verdurier in . The event, named Clos d’Ellesrehabilitates female talent in a spirit of joyful sorority. “Female art is not always recognized or well promoted. Our idea was to promote and show the art of local women, both in photography and in painting, engraving, ceramics, sculpture, etc.,” explains Isabelle Serve, co-organizer.

“Since the 18th century, men have more easily put themselves forward. Today we discover female paintings worthy of a Renoir, but they have not had their place in museums. Women’s art was recognized as a hobby, creative leisure… It was not taken seriously,” explains Michèle Etchessahar, her partner for the day in charge of reception. Because art, even if it is capable of moving the world forward, “is not spared by patriarchy”, regret the two artists.

It is therefore together that women artists from Limousin (and even a little further) have decided to take their place in the spotlight. Clos d’Elles 2025 is a second edition, “and it’s not the last!” », Already promises Michèle Etchessahar. We take her word for it!

Practical information: open even on Sundays, until Tuesday January 14. Free entry.
