The world of Jean-Claude Smadja is colorful, like the founder of Émilie Tissus Paris who is very vocal. A talkative enthusiast who takes a little piece of the Parisian Trail to each city where he shows. The truth if I lie!
Rare and precious
With forty years of experience in textile design and still a consultant in the fashion industry, he divides his time between Como in Italy where the silk Ratai factories are located and the roads of France where since 2019 he has been selling the surplus production. Rare and precious fabrics, made for the greatest fashion houses, which now delight amateur seamstresses. Passionate people like him, with whom he shares his knowledge of materials and structures, during exchanges which quickly transform into improvised lectures.
“I have a technical background. I talk about texture, texture, percentage and price,” warns this self-taught man, who grew up surrounded by the bobbins and fabrics of his seamstress mother. He creates, imagines materials, and talks endlessly about his creations, like this linen with a leather effect. “Sensuality and femininity are my whole life,” he confides. It’s hard not to believe him, seeing the way he caresses and feels the tissues. And his ability to get excited is contagious. With sight and touch alert, its customers in turn evaluate the quality of the fabrics offered.
