Jeff Bezos and Amazon roll out the red carpet for Melania Trump

Very discreet during her husband’s first presidential term, Melania Trump really seems to approach her second stay at the White House in a completely different way. After touring sets to promote her memoirs, Donald Trump’s wife will be the star of a documentary broadcast on Amazon Prime Video from the middle of this year. The opportunity for the First Lady to share her story and reveal part of her private life to a wide audience.

This film will be entirely dedicated to the cause of Melania Trump, who will have editorial control as executive producer, explains CNN. It will be directed by Brett Ratner, who is making his comeback after several women accused him of inappropriate sexual behavior in 2017. The director has always denied these allegations. The documentary, which does not yet have a title, will be broadcast in streaming, but also in cinemas around the world, according to an Amazon press release. Filming began last month, a month after Donald Trump’s re-election.

Through this project, Jeff Bezos confirms his desire to warm up his relations with Donald Trump, after years of conflict, writes the Daily Beast. Amazon has already donated $1 million to the Republican’s inauguration fund and announced the ceremony will be streamed on Prime Video, another contribution worth about $1 million. Additionally, Jeff Bezos recently dined with Donald Trump and Elon Musk at Mar-a-Lago.

The Amazon boss’s appeals to the president-elect are raising eyebrows across the Atlantic, notably at the “Washington Post”, a newspaper of which he is the owner. This weekend, cartoonist Ann Telnaes resigned after management rejected a cartoon in which she criticized Jeff Bezos for seeking to “curry favors with Donald Trump.” The drawing, published Friday on the designer’s blog, shows the founder of Amazon on his knees handing a bag bearing the dollar sign to a statue representing the future American president.

Before the November election, Jeff Bezos prevented the “Washington Post” from calling for a vote for Kamala Harris, even though voting recommendations by editorial boards are a tradition in the United States. His space company Blue Origin is also engaged in a race with Elon Musk’s SpaceX to win public contracts.
