Having become Victor’s father at the age of 30, Frédéric Lopez spoke of the close relationship he has with his son to our colleagues at TV Magazine. The 57-year-old presenter, who came out in 2016, separated from the mother of his boy when he was 5 years old. Despite this breakup, father and son have created a very strong bond even if Frédéric Lopez still doubts his talents as a dad. He explains: “I thought I would be a better father. Obviously it wasn’t perfect. Everyone adapts with their baggage and their neuroses. But I have a bond with my son that I didn’t have with my father at the same age.“. Aged 27, Victor today shares “lectures” or “walks” with his dad.
Feeling very guilty about his potential as a father, he also explained to journalists about Gala not having had much time to take care of him when he was little and having favored ready meals a lot: “I haven’t cooked for decades. I even apologized to my son because, being separated from his mother, I raised him with ready-made industrial meals.. I came home very late from work, arrived at the supermarket and chose the dish with the fastest microwave cooking time. It’s symptomatic of the life I was able to have at a given moment.”.
